Recently, the Sri Lanka Research Center for a Community with a Shared Future officially launched its new YouTube social media account. This account focuses on promoting the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and sharing related practices, serving as a new digital platform for disseminating this vision overseas in the South Asian region.
The Sri Lanka Research Centre for the Community with a Shared Future was established collaboratively by the Institute for the Community with a Shared Future at the Communication University of China and the University of Colombo (Sri Palya Campus) in Sri Lanka. The social media account ‘Community with Shared Future’ was launched under the leadership of Sugath Mahinda Senarath, Director of the Centre and Head of the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Colombo (Sri Palya Campus). Sugath stated that the YouTube channel focuses on the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. The core objective is to provide the global community with information on relevant activities, whilst inviting people from various sectors who support this vision to actively contribute by sharing lectures, speeches and research materials on the platform, enabling more people to understand and participate in the dissemination and implementation of this concept.
For the account's initial launch, we have specially invited Professor Li Huailiang, Dean of the Institute for the Community of Shared Future (ICSF) at the Communication University of China, to provide an in-depth analysis of the concept of the community of shared future for mankind, explaining its core and contemporary significance to a global audience. In Professor Li's analysis, he emphasised that the concept of a Community with a Shared Future stands at the heart of Chinese global cooperation philosophy. This concept represents a significant shift in international relations—from competition to collaboration, from division to unity, and from self-interest to shared development—and profoundly illustrates the interconnectedness of human destiny. When confronted with global challenges such as climate change, epidemic prevention, economic inequality and technological transformation, no country can stand alone. Only through collaborative efforts we can fundamentally resolve these issues. He emphasised that the concept of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind advocates for inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalisation, balancing national sovereignty with global diversity, and upholding the principle of ‘leaving no country behind’. He also introduced the development of the Institute for the Community with a Shared Future (ICSF) at the Communication University of China to the global audience. He stated that this channel would provide a valuable space for learning and exchange to people of Sri Lanka and people from all over the world, especially young people who aspire to move beyond a single narrative and gain a deeper understanding of global issues. He hoped through the platform would share more high-quality lectures, seminars and practical stories, enabling more people to understand the core of the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, and to build a powerful force to promote the common development of the world.
This platform's establishment represents a significant achievement in academic cooperation between China and Sri Lanka and serves as an effective example of the international community actively promoting and implementing the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. The platform's launch not only builds a new digital bridge for disseminating this concept across South Asia, but also enriches the channels and formats used to communicate it overseas. This will help the concept transcend geographical and cultural boundaries, take root and gain widespread acceptance globally, while also injecting greater international power into the efforts to build a community with a shared future.
