UNESCO Authorized Institute for a Community with Shared Future (ICSF) to Host an Academic Forum

Recently, Institute for a Community with Shared Future (ICSF) of Communication University of China (CUC) received a response from UNESCO, formally authorizing the Institute to host Building a Global Community of Shared Future - International Think Tank Forum (2025) this September. The Forum has also been included in the series of celebratory events marking the 20th anniversary of UNESCO's 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (hereinafter referred to as the 2005 Convention). Building a Global Community of Shared Future - International Think Tank Forum (2025) has been selected for inclusion on the dedicated webpage for the 20th anniversary and granted permission to use the official logo.


The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the 2005 Convention. Over the past two decades, the Convention has played a pivotal role in advancing the development of global cultural diversity and fostering cross-cultural exchanges and cooperation. Building a Global Community of Shared Future - International Think Tank Forum (2025) will organize a series of activities under the theme of Protecting and Promoting the Diversity of Cultural Expressions: Practices and Future Prospects. The event will feature an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, and sub-forum discussions. The sub-forums will conduct in-depth discussions on various aspects, including a review of the practical achievements and lessons learned from the past 20 years since the adoption of the 2005 Convention, the protection and innovation of cultural expressions diversity in the digital age, and the relationship between cultural expressions diversity and cultural dialogue mechanisms. Additionally, a series of activities, such as the Unity through Art themed calligraphy and painting exhibition, a book launch event for United Nations 80th Anniversary: Towards a Global Community of Shared Future, and the release of significant research findings, will also take place during the Forum. Experts and scholars from various countries will collectively contribute their wisdom to the protection and promotion of cultural expressions diversity.


Since 2020, CUC-ICSF has been hosting the International Think Tank Forums for 5 consecutive years. The Institute has jointly established 22 overseas research centers with universities and institutions across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and other continents, which serve as the core participants in the forums. The Forums have also become crucial platforms for exchanges among these centers. Previous events have been reported by mainstream media both in China and abroad.


UNESCO has expressed its gratitude to CUC for its efforts in celebrating the diversity of cultural expressions. The inclusion of Building a Global Community of Shared Future - International Think Tank Forum (2025) in UNESCO's official series of events will provide an important academic and practical platform for the protection and promotion of global cultural diversity.
